Book Blogger Hop: Favorite Post from the Past Month

Book Blogger Hop

This week's Book Blogger Hop, sponsored by Crazy for Books, is more self-referential than usual: Share your favorite post from the last month and tell us why it's close to your heart. Somehow this feels more difficult to answer, more self-aggrandizing than merely sharing our opinions on other topics.  But then again, I suppose none of us would be blogging if we didn't think we had *something* worth sharing.

I guess my favorite post from last month is my review of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, which pubs in September from Doubleday.  I found it a difficult review to write because I loved the book so much, and I was incredibly gratified and touched when the author contacted me and told me that though she had read many positive reviews about her book so far, mine was the first one to make her weep.  Uh, in a good way, that is.

  1. I love when an author feels compelled to contact me. I feel then like I did a good job on the post. Of course, you're probably to being contacted by authors all the time, right?

  4. That is very cool that the author was so touched as to contact you. Although, with such a beautiful review I can understand why. Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Following you back! Thanks for finding me through the other blogs. =) Stalking is ok.

We Southeners have to stick together! LOL I know it's hard for us to get in a hurry (except maybe to make a reservation at Paula Deen's restaurant), but I'm working on it. My husband's family is from Jackson, Mississippi so we've been to Eudora Welty's house. The sketches you have are awesome. She's one of my favorite Southern writers.
